Born Bridgeport, Connecticut, April 16, 1971. Admitted to bar: 1997, New York; 1997, U.S. District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York; 1999, District of Columbia. Education: Syracuse University (B.A., 1993); Brooklyn Law School (J.D., 1996).
Mr. Smokler’s practice focuses on mass torts, personal injury and products liability litigation including the representation of injured consumers in actions against pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. Most recently, he served as a member of the trial team in the first Bextra personal injury trial in the United States. That case settled on the eve of trial and ultimately led to an $894 million settlement of all related cases.
Prior to joining Hanly Conroy Bierstein Sheridan Fisher & Hayes LLP, Mr. Smokler was an associate at Milberg LLP and Weitz & Luxenberg PC, and specialized in the litigation of asbestos and silicone gel filled breast implant products liability actions on behalf of plaintiffs.
